For those that have kept up with the blog know that I have been going crazy over the testing of my new IEM's that I got. The Kato's were the best for me before I got these. In fact, they were my first IEM in years. So I really didn't have much to compare them with and therefore I wanted to do so before I settled. Josh Valour's video of the B3's on youtube really hit me hard.
I watched that video for some many times that I have lost count. He made several great points in that video and many, many others. I think he and I share the same hearing preferences. So when he says something like the B3's are his go-to choice for EDC earphones, it means a lot to me. So once I got them in allowing them time to burn in, I saw the same points Josh did about them. And with me having the Kato's already I thought that they would not match the superior music quality of the Kato's. And at first, I was preparing myself for the return of the B3's. Going from the Sub-bass present on the Kato's to the neutral and balanced version of Bass produced by the B3 is a clear switch over and one that in 90% of people would rule in the favor of the Kato's.
But what I found out over time is that the Kato's fit vs the B3 are also just as different. I found myself always adjusting the Kato's because they are designed not to touch your ears and are heavy. That means the ear tips hold the majority of the weight on the earphone in your ears. So this causes the seal to break often. But the B3 are designed to balance themselves against key points in the concha( as seen above). This makes the B3 disappear inside your ear. This then allows the soundstage, which is one of the best I've heard on IEM, to take over. This sound wraps around your body and head and totally emerges you inside the music to the point that your ears have no Idea that something is in them and your head believes sounds are coming from around your body inside of inside your ears.
Then on top of this fit, it is also removing any pressure situation even better than the Kato's did. In fact, going back to the Kato, I notice it still created some pressure in its sealing. This is one of the biggest surprises. So for the first time, I am appreciating more things about sound and music than just bass. The conclusion... I either keep both or return the Kato's but as of right now what won't be done is the returning of the B3's. They are durable, look amazing, feel amazing, sound amazing, and just like Josh said, "They are my new EDC IEM".
